Build Your Own Halloween Tree and… a Secret
Boo! –Did we scare you? Rest easy. Although our tree tells a chilling tale, Halloween trees can tell whimsical stories, too, if that’s more your style.
Creating a Halloween tree of your own is frightfully easy. Sadly, it is too late to assemble your own creepy conifer this year. However, simply bookmark this post or take some notes now, and you will be ready for the spooky season in 2025.
OH! Before we lose our heads to the eerie-sistable magic of Halloween, we need to share a secret with you.
–Come closer. We wouldn’t want just anyone or anything lurking about to eavesdrop. Closer still… Alright. Are you ready? Here goes…
We’re unveiling twelve of our most beautiful and inspiring 2024 featured Christmas trees in the coming weeks. And, you won’t have to wait long for a reveal. Keep your eyes on this blog, because we’ll share the first six trees tomorrow, 1 November! Yes, indeed. With only 55 days to Christmas, we’ve decided to get festive extra early.
Now, back to building a Halloween tree. First, you will need an artificial Christmas tree. We prefer unflocked trees here. If you don’t already have a tree, take a look at our beguiling selection.
Fangtastic Decorations
Once you’ve chosen your tree, decide what sort of Halloween story you want to tell. Will you think along more sinister lines, or will your imagination take you in a cuter direction? Whatever your taste, we reckon you’ll need these basics to conjure up an un-boo-lievable tree:
- Lights: We love purple and orange LED lights.
- Garland & Ribbon: Orange, purple, and black tinsel, Halloween character and purple metallic ribbon, and orange glitter garland.
- Floristry: We chose to obscure all the evergreen branches on our tree with floristry. However, that might not be to your liking. Even so, we suggest adding a few purple glitter sprays, coppery poinsettias, and purple poinsettias so your tree will radiate Halloween’s signature colours.
- Baubles: Orange, green, purple, black sequined, lacquered…the more, the better.
- Larger Decorations: If skeletons and spiders aren’t your style, then what about an owl or two? And you’ll certainly need pumpkins like these silly pumpkin ornaments and glitter pumpkins.
Scare Up Everything
Finding these decorations and many more is easy when you use the tools on the Christmas Elves website. Here’s how:
- Use the ‘Colours of Christmas’ tab on the homepage. Select ‘orange’ and you’ll be magically shown a list of all orange and copper decorations.
- Click on the ‘Home Décor & Villages’ tab on the homepage. Select ‘Halloween Decorations’ to find everything you’ll need to make a scream-worthy holiday.
- Visit our 'weird sister' brand, Witches of Halloween.
Bring It To Life
The trick to decorating a Halloween tree is to trim it like a Christmas tree. Start with wrapping the tree in lights if you’re using them. Next, weave ribbon and garlands through the branches. Floristry and larger decorations come next. You may need some wire to fasten these to the tree, so wear durable gloves to protect your hands. Last and definitely not least, hang your baubles all over the tree.
Abracadabra! Your Halloween tree is now complete. Stand back and enjoy your wickedly quaint creation. It’s ALIVE!
